The Stories Behind the Songs of Evelyn SmithIn 1985, I was checking into a psychiatric hospital and I was very frightened and distraught. I told the nurse who was assisting me with the admission process that someday I was going to write "a book about all this." Years later, I began to feel an urgent need to do just that. I had been through so much, and I hoped that--by telling my story--I could help someone else having to walk down a similar path.
The first part of the book is "MY STORY" and deals mainly with the OCD experience itself. The second part, "THE STORIES BEHIND THE SONGS," is actually a continuation of the same odyssey but in a different format. Throughout the years, I have written dozens of songs which are essentially an outgrowth of my emotional journey. To tell about the stories behind the songs is to essentially tell more about myself, but, also, my spiritual journey is reflected as well. In fact, my book begins with "all about me" and ends with "all about HIM"--the one who sustained me, delivered me, loved me, saved me. And He will do the same for you.
Sermons in the Sand
This is a collection of devotional stories that were written over a period of time as I just experienced God's goodness in everyday life situations. One story was inspired by observing some baby ducks at the park. Another was the outpouring of my heart as I was consumed with distress over a situation in my son's life. Some of them will make you laugh and will make me look quite silly. Others perhaps will make you cry. Hopefully, all of them will move you to look up and to look into the word of God, which is where you will find His perfect will for your life.
